a New Holland T6080. A common sight around town especially when moving heavy equipment around. If they're not hauling anything, you see lots of them driven like cars. Wonder how the high petrol prices will affect these tractors.

That's something you no longer see in this part of England - using a tractor to go to the shops or the pub. It used to be normal when I was a boy, despite it being illegal as agricultural diesel is free from tax and can only be used for farming purposes.

ReplyDeleteThey are very useful vehicles, especially in rough terrain. They use diesel, which is much cheaper than gasoline, but I'm not aware of the rise in prices either... Good afternoon, Bill.

ReplyDeleteI was thinking that about petrol when I saw the photo. I can be OK with big vehicles (including pick-up trucks and SUVs) if the people using them NEED them (a big family, they haul a lot of stuff). But when I see a great big gas guzzler and know the person is only a single person or a couple with no kids who just have it for grocery shopping and such, I don't feel too sorry about their petrol prices!

ReplyDeleteI hate to think how much it would cost to fill it. Today, the cost of Petrol in San Diego is $5.33/gallon. What used to be about $45 to fill a tank. Now it is over $60.
