Is it perhaps a response to the number of times people have driven their vehicles into pedestrians on the sidewalk in recent years, using a vehicle as a lethal weapon.
Wow, just look at that mountain (in your header!) I kind of like the bollards (not a term that's in my vocabulary) though think they might be hard for drivers to see.
Há uns anos atrás a minha mãe tropeçou nuns mais pequenos, numa praça em Lisboa... e ainda partiu um braço! Mas estes sendo bem maiores, não passam despercebidos! Gostei da imagem! Um grande abraço! Ana
wow a quite sidewalk and unique bollard...is it from stone or cement?
ReplyDeletehave a great day Bill ^^
The bollards come in handy when a bad driver shows up.
ReplyDeleteHoi Bill.
ReplyDeleteScherpe bocht en mooie paaltjes.

There is at least one place in the city that has bollards like this. They must work, no one has rolled over them yet.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. I wonder if they'll catch on in other towns.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I find them original and I like them, they sure do their job.
ReplyDeleteBest regards.
Great header Bill and I always wonder how the formwork for these spheres is made.
ReplyDelete...Mt. Errigal is impressive! They should stop people from clipping the corner.
ReplyDeleteTo drive against gives a big bang!

ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI like the bollards, they keep pedestrians safe from the bad drivers.
Take care, enjoy your day!
Beautiful new header! Oh I like how they have the ballards put where they can't roll away. You just never know.
ReplyDeleteAfter all, they are like sculptures and they provide a good service... (of deterrence!; ))
ReplyDeleteAll the best to you, Bill.

I wouldn’t want to drive into one of those.

ReplyDeleteI like the new header!!
ReplyDeleteHopefully those bollards will not be rolling down the street...
I've seen them here in one or two spots.
ReplyDeleteBut usually bollards are cylindrical.
We have a store chain in the US called Target and they have these huge round "balls" in front of their store (In black).
ReplyDeleteBefore today, I didn't know what a bollard was
ReplyDeleteThose balls should keep cars from cutting the corner. I like your new header photo, Bill.
ReplyDeleteI love your new blog photo.. It's really fantastic :)
ReplyDeleteShould keep the tractors on the roads!
ReplyDeleteI like the new header picture.
ReplyDeleteAre those round balls there to keep cars from coming on the curb?
Yes they are for preventing cars from cutting the corner.
DeleteI've seen them here in a few places and have found them quite attractive.
ReplyDeleteThe street looks really tidy and neat. Love the new header!
ReplyDeleteIn Spain are very commun ^^
ReplyDeleteHola! donde vivo también los hay. Saludos
ReplyDeleteSadly, these are becomming increasingly more necessary.
ReplyDeleteI've seen those bollards painted red in front of a Target store.
ReplyDeletePerfect for the theme!
ReplyDeleteBello lugar, te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteThey look like bowling balls that met with some misfortune.
ReplyDeleteWe can sit there. ^ ^
ReplyDeleteThey come in many colors here. :)
ReplyDeleteI think they were nice
