St. Patrick’s Day festivities were the first COVID casualty of The City Toronto’s legendary party scene, back in March 2020. Two years, five shutdowns and countless pandemic guidelines to boot, Toronto is finally getting the party it was promised. The St. Patrick’s Day parade is back.
It will be mayhem downtown today. I wonder when and how the celebration of a saint deteriorated into drunken revelry, throwing up on the sidewalk, taunting police, destroying property and general civic disobedience? Seems pretty typical of religion when you come to think of it.
Wonderful! The one in Omaha was last weekend. In my hometown, traffic was stopped on main street just to paint the shamrock in the middle of the street yesterday. I guess it fades away because no one really remembers it until this time next year. Hope there is a lot to enjoy today. Making Guinness stew here.
We've had them each year, with a strong Irish population in the area, but of course Covid ended that in the last two years. Not this year either, since it is always held the weekend before. Next year it'll be back.
Happy St. Patrick's Day, Bill. There is no parade here, but Chicago always had a big parade and they dyed the Chicago River green. Covid eliminated parades for a couple years, perhaps they are back now.
Adorei a imagem! Sinto falta de tempos assim... mais alegres e despreocupados... Não me importava que o tempo voltasse para trás até 2019... Um grande abraço! Ana
...have a wonderful day, Bill.☘️
ReplyDeleteI can't help but wonder what St Patrick would make of all this.
ReplyDeleteNice with the Scania truck. They are having a tough time at the moment.
