crazy weather day

Started out the day visiting the veg man down in the Square.  We were there about 10 minutes before it began to hail.  It was so loud hitting the awning I thought it was going to collapse.  It didn't.

After dropping our groceries, I headed out for a quick walk and was greeted by some sun.  You never know how long that will last.

I liked how the sun highlighted this stone wall.

the sky was getting dark again but the rain held off.  Crazy weather these days!

Moville Drama Group

Presents - The 2 Loves of Gabriel Foley

Gabriel Foley is a middle-aged bachelor farmer, who lives with his elderly mother. He has been unlucky in love many times, much to his mother’s frustration. She thinks she’ll never get rid of him. Then he meets upmarket, Hazel Myers and joins the posh drama group in the nearby town in order to romance her.
He is unaware that Chrissie McCabe – a cheerful countrywoman, who comes in to help him and his mother – fancies him. By the time Chrissie makes her feelings known to Gabriel, he has already got Hazel’s attention. He and Chrissie decide to try going out together. He tries to let Hazel down gently, but Hazel is not a woman to give up easily.

a new play area

for little kids is under construction and soon will be finished.  The local Men's Shed is right next store so I assume they are making it.  They make lots of things for the community.  When I see someone, I'll have to inquire about this project.  It's pretty cool for the kids to receive a play area like this.  They will surely enjoy it.

I like this sitting bench made with pallets, it's pretty cool.

old railway station clock

the clock is located where the old train station once stood.   I took this photo last month when we visited Stranorlar.  Below is some info that I found in an old article of the Irish Times newspaper.

The first seconds of the new millennium in Co Donegal will be counted in on an old railway station clock, which has been restored and mounted in a specially-designed tower on the main street in Stranorlar.
The last train ever to pull into Stranorlar station arrived at 8.20 p.m. on December 31st, 1959, and the station clock has been held in storage for the past 40 years.
As a millennium project, a local development group teamed up with Donegal County Council to have the clock remounted on the main street.
A Dublin architect, Mr Martin Henchion, came up with the winning design for the new clock tower, a beacon-like stainless steel structure lighting up the surrounding area.

caution

I happened to walking past this gate and heard the bird crash in to the fence.   After a few minutes the poor stunned bird got up and flew off.

the big fish

The Big Fish aka The Salmon of Knowledge is a printed ceramic mosaic sculpture by John Kindness. The 10-metre-long (33 ft) statue was constructed in 1999 and installed on Donegall Quay in Belfast, near the Lagan Lookout and Custom House.

The outer skin of the fish is a cladding of ceramic tiles decorated with texts and images relating to the history of Belfast. According to the Belfast City Council, each scale "tells a story about the city". Material from Tudor times to present day newspaper headlines are included along with contributions from Belfast school children.  The Ulster Museum provided the primary source of historic images, while local schools/day centres located along the line of the River Farset were approached to provide drawings for the fish. Images were provided by Glenwood Primary School, St Comgalls and Everton Day Centres.
The Big Fish contains a time capsule storing information, images, and poetry on the City.

This scene caught my eye when I passed it.  In a matter of a few seconds the shadow disappeared but I got it just in time.
