Saturday, the Christmas lights were going up around town. On Dec 3rd, the lights will be turned on and Santa will be arriving by firetruck. Market Square will be crowded.
Christmas in November is far too early!!! Just my personal opinion, but many people don't agree. There are houses on the nearby street that are in full Christmas array already, including the decorated and lighted Christmas tree in the front window...... I'll do mine just a week before Christmas. In fact I probably won't have a tree this year. Yep, I'm a grinch.
Christmas begins on December 25 and continues for 12 days. That's when Santa ought to arrive on his fire truck sans reindeer. Don't you people know anything? Heh, heh, heh! I'm beginning to dislike Christmas a lot. The early Christians were smart; they didn't celebrate Christmas until the first century and then just adopted many traditions of another religion.
...you folks don't seem to rush Christmas the way we do.

We had the official switch on last Thursday along with Santa's arrival. Far too early - but shop keepers need the sales!
ReplyDeleteBy firetruck, that is special!
ReplyDeleteHe's a popular chap that Santa, the 3rd of Dec is a much better time to arrive rather than November 😀
ReplyDeleteAlways nice to see people at work. I like it.
ReplyDeleteSanta’s electrical helpers.

It's that time of year. I'm seeing this going on in several places around here but, I haven't heard yet, when Santa will arrive.

ReplyDeleteWhen I was about four it seemed an awfully long time between Christmasses. Now they seem to pile up one after the other!

ReplyDeletePreparations here are underway, but as I recall they don't turn on the lights downtown around the landmarks until the 8th of December.
ReplyDeleteMy town is getting all lit up right now too! I do love this time of year.
ReplyDeleteIt feels so early this year!
ReplyDeleteI like that he is arriving in a firetruck, how original :)

Santa arrives here as part of a tractor parade on Saturday night. I may go welcome him but I fear the weather may not cooperate.
ReplyDeleteHa Bill, ja het is weer bijna Kerstmis, zal daar wel mooi verlicht worden.
ReplyDeleteGroet kees.
Always exciting to see the preparations ...
ReplyDeleteBut then I'm still a big kid at heart! LOL!
All the best Jan
