If interested I wrote a conversational piece years ago when I was going to a Quaker Church. It's about a talk I had with God during an unprogrammed service.
Unprogrammed Quaker worship is a silent, communal gathering without pre-planned sermons, pastors, or set agendas. Attendees sit in stillness to center themselves, remaining open to inward divine guidance. Anyone may briefly speak, pray, or share a message ("vocal ministry") if inwardly compelled by the Spirit.

nature's wall art
seen on a stone wall in town.
This plant is Maidenhair Spleenwort (Asplenium trichomanes), a small, evergreen fern often found growing in rock crevices or on old stone walls. It is characterized by its narrow, dark-green fronds with small, rounded leaflets arranged in pairs along a distinct blackish stem. The fern thrives in calcareous (lime-rich) habitats, specifically in cracks in rocks or cliff faces. It forms dense, rosette-like tufts that can reach up to 30 cm in length.

MV Queen Anne
luxury liner stopped by Killybegs this past Monday. There were 3,000 passengers and 1,500 crew members. The roof in the foreground belongs to a fish processing plant. The photo was taken from a tower facing the harbour which is only a few minutes walk away.

St. Connell’s Church
in Glenties.
St. Connell’s Church, Glenties was designed by the architect, the late Mr. Liam Mc Cormick, Derry and was officially opened on Sunday 19th May 1974 by the Bishop of Raphoe, the late Bishop Anthony Mac Feely. Mr. Mc Cormick has won several awards for the design of his churches and he got an award for this church too.
Surrounded by trees, the Church echoes a feeling of encloure, its high pitched slated roof enclosing the building almost to the ground on both sides. The tall gable ends are white rough-cast. Mr. Mc Cormick makes three strong statements in the design of the Church. 1. Design blending with the environment. 2. The Role of Nature. 3. The Importance of Baptism.
St. Connell’s Church reflects the meeting of the two glens; the Big Glen and the Wee Glen. Na Gleanntai(The Glens) from which the town gets it’s name. The Church has a strong natural light coming mainly from the roof window and the low level window overlooking the landscape area. As we enter this beautilful Church we cross over water and this will remind us of Baptism, the gateway to the Eucharist.

gorse season
is growing and starting to spread out. In the hot weather we have lots of gorse fires that need to be contained and dealt with.
Got a notification about a gorse fire that just broke out near Letterkenny.
A gorse fire broke out near Mountain Top just outside Letterkenny on Thursday.
The blaze broke out in Calhame, a residential area, at around 8pm. Eyewitnesses say multiple fire brigades arrived and the fire was brought under control.
The fire coincides with the ‘Condition Orange - High Fire Risk’ warning issued, which is effective from Monday, April 20, until Monday, April 27. The Department of Agriculture issued the warning as the dry weather leads to a risk of gorse fire.
