Here (NL) unfortunately c.a 1000 trees fell down in a forest due to a storm due to a crosswind. And unfortunately even though the roots were strong she was not allowed to make it. They may well leave this one you photographed because it can be a shelter for many a bird or other animal. Carrots store a lot of moisture so it can take a while before they are dried and really die.
One wonders about the roots and how much it can withstand with storms and winds. I worry about the maple out front..just when will it land on the driveway. We had a massive ice story I would say close to 20 years ago now that took down the beautiful canopy of trees in our neighborhood..and they are still falling from time to time.
Not to worry. It is Nature's way of aerating the earth.
ReplyDeleteIt has strong root..
ReplyDelete...the bigger they are the harder they fall.
ReplyDeleteAbatida pelo vento.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e boa semana.

Trees take a long time to dry out and die, due to the large amount of sap they contain.
ReplyDeleteGood shots.
Amazing how resilient nature can be.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Looks like a shallow root system and the tree was upended by wind.
ReplyDeleteOhh what a big tree it once was!
ReplyDeleteNature at work.
ReplyDeleteSuch trees amaze me. They go through the seasons as if they were standing.

ReplyDeleteNature is an amazing phenomenon Bill, such a huge tree you would think would stand forever. Looooove your new header shot 💜
ReplyDeleteIt is determined to survive!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots Bill! I wonder if it will start to regrow from different areas along the tree, I've seen trees do that before, pretty amazing!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how well trees can survive all kinds of disasters.
ReplyDeleteLooks good. There are plenty like this in the woods here!
ReplyDeleteIf a tree falls in the forest, and no one is there to hear, did it make a noise? We'll never know. Impressive photos, Bill.
ReplyDeleteWonderfully Dramatic.
ReplyDeleteOh that is a shame. Trees need to stand tall.
ReplyDeleteHola Bill, la naturaleza es muy sabia, espero que el árbol resista.

Heavy Storms overthere?
ReplyDelete¡Que lástima de árbol! Quizás podría ser transplantado.
ReplyDeleteLove that header photo, Bill. The tree reminds me of the huge stump still upturned near my gardens. We lost a giant last year. So sad to see them go.
ReplyDeleteIt's really interesting... Becauese of rain??
ReplyDeleteI imagine it is the rain but it has been there for a long time.
DeleteAmazing how trees can grow like that. We have some in our woods like that.
