the name reminds me of when my dad took me to Louie the barber to get my haircut. Even if we were the only two people in his shop, he would still ask, OK, who’s next even though my dad didn't need his hair cut. :)
We have a barber near us who cuts your hair whilst you wait. You don't have to come back later to collect your haircut.
He is not very good at shaving though. The other day whilst he was shaving me I looked down and saw an ear on the ground. I said, "Look here. There's an ear down here. Who's ear is it down here?"
He replied, "Touch it. If it is warm, it's yours!"
Years ago, whilst having my hair cut, I told my barber I'd seen The Dubliners in concert and spoke with them afterwards. He loved The Dubliners and asked me what they said when I met them.
I replied, "They said tell us who cut your hair and we'll get your money back!"
I think he practiced that way (calling who’s next) dealing with customer. For me, barber comes home for haircut and he’s someone hair cutting me from childhood.
Nice snippet from the past Bill.

ReplyDeleteMany years ago (decades and decades ago!) people would not make appointments mainly in small towns or villages. First come, first served!
ReplyDeleteWho's next?
Well, that says a lot!
