memorials

for those who were lost at sea.  This is located in the village playground.

In 2016 a special plaque had been added to remember all those who have been lost at sea.  The plaque had been commissioned alongside the existing memorial in the village playground.

another memorial can be found at Saint Mary's church which is located nearby.  The little bronze plate  on the lower part of the memorial states: this plaque was placed in this Garden of Remembrance during the restoration  of our church 2012.

  9. Those of us who like to sit on a beach and watch the waves crashing on the shore, forget about the lethal power of the sea! This is a perfect reminder.

  10. Western Washington being a fishing state with many ports on the ocean---I see too many of these. But everyone should be remembered.

  11. I love the sea, it's my favorite place on earth. But it can be very dangerous, and I love that there are these beautiful reminders to honor those who have lost their lives.

  12. That is a lot of names for a small town. Tragedy must have touched every family at some time.

  13. It is a hard and dangerous life. We have seen a few similar memorials along the Pacific Coast from Alaska and on into California. But it looks like so many from this one town that you show.

  14. I've seen variations of these in many areas where there have been a lot of fishermen. People sometimes forget how treacherous fishing can be.
