skywatch

came across lady liberty when were heading to Dungloe from Killybegs at the end of Jan.  It was very strange, it just popped in to view when we came around a curve in the road.  At night the bulb on the torch lights up.  It overlooks Gweebarra Bay towards the sand dunes of Dooey Beach.
I would love to know the story behind this. :)

    God bless.

  9. Does she welcome tired and huddled masses? If so perhaps some of those poor Syrian refugees could be accommodated.

  16. How unusual to see Lady Liberty in Ireland, but she looks great in your photos. Let the light of liberty shine.

  18. I just viewed the post photos and then read all the previous comments, so it seems most folks want to read the story of this Lady Liberty, Bill, myself included. It does seem that the sculpture could use some repair as well.

  19. She is waiting for any poor souls out at sea at night. Offering them a light to aim for?
There was a house near me that had an Eiffel Tower out on their upper balcony for years. It lit up at night too.

  25. There's a lady liberty in Paris, a duplicate of the one in New York (I can't remember if it's the same scale). That one was created as part of the building of the one for the U.S.
