house by the lake

on our walk last week to Dungloe Lake, we saw this house in the distance and decided that would be our destination.  It took about 45 minutes to get there.  The hills around there are very rocky so the rocks that we saw around the house looked like they were there naturally and maybe bleached.  I could be wrong but it was interesting to see regardless.  We didn't see any people so we don't know if the house was finished or inhabited.

you can see the house in the distance, to the right and rear of the sign

  9. I'm pretty certain that the rock outcrop is Limestone which is naturally very white. Limestones weather like that naturally as water dissolves away lines of weakness in the rock. The area known as The Burren in Co Clare is famous for this kind of scenery.

  23. Es preciosa la cas, pero lo que me gusta es la cercanía que tiiene con el lago. Desde sus ventanas deben de tener buenas vistas a él.

  29. That's a really interesting setting. That solid rock...I wonder if it's a limestone formation, like in the Burren? It looks almost like snow at first glance.

  33. My husband the travel planner (another Bill) always has to have a goal to reach when we go for a walk or hike. You had a great one. ( I always especially enjoy those goal-oriented outings, but on the other hand, can walk around the block afew times, kind of like a hamster in a cage, and feel OK just because I walked. )
