Killybegs just got two new
solar street bins placed in town last week, these are compacting bins. The first one is in front of the bank on Main St. We first saw these when were in Ballina. I guess you could call them smart bins. :)
the second one is down in the center of town at the Diamond
Sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea. Pleased you put the link there so I could read about it.
ReplyDeleteI have not seen her in our city yet...
ReplyDeleteI'll look around :-))
Good sunday for you.
Tendríamo que tomar ejemplo en España. Con las horas de sol que hay en nuestro país es para que se hubiera empleado más la energía solar. En la zona de Andalucía, que es donde vivo yo, es sonde hay más temperatura solar.
ReplyDeleteBesos
I have never heard of them. How do they work?
ReplyDeleteIt uses the solar energy to compact the trash and to alert the company when the bin is full.
DeleteInteresting, never seen them before!
ReplyDeleteNo wonder your streets are free of litter.
ReplyDelete...they would never work here, we don't have enough smart people to stop and use one!
ReplyDeleteWhat an excellent idea Bill, that was a super informative link ✨
ReplyDeleteAs long as you get plenty of sunshine and not too much litter it should work fine!
ReplyDeleteA great idea indeed.
ReplyDeleteDid you go look at one? Since you took its photo, I imagine you did. What's that tube on the side for? And only one of these has one of the side-tubes...just my Sunday morning engineering curiosity.
ReplyDeleteThe tube is for cigarettes butts. The second one has the tube too but it's hard to see.
DeleteA smart way

make clean street...great
ReplyDeleteGood idea. I hope people use them

ReplyDeleteSounds like a good idea. Never heard of that before.
ReplyDeleteI've not heard of the concept before.
ReplyDeleteSmart bins... Never seen one before.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful technology!
ReplyDeleteWell, if it works in Ireland, then I'm sure it would work here.
ReplyDeleteWhat a thing. I haven't seen one here.
ReplyDeleteIsn't technology wonderful.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
I’ve never seen anything like those “smart bins”...brilliant idea. Sure would save space in our landfills.
ReplyDeleteThis is the 1st am hearing/seeing these smart bins! Great use of technology indeed.
