can and bottle returns
cans or plastic bottles have their own machine to collect and process the returns. It prints out the receipt when you're done and you can use it in the store. Nice and easy and no mess like back in the old days.
A bitter laugh from here, Bill. Oh so often I have to walk around and try to find some staff cause both machines are "not working" - it´s a pain over here! And even if they work you have to take the bottle/can out and in again often. What I find even worse: They installed containers for bottles for students who "drink" on benches and are too rich to bring them back to put in there so poor people have easy access to that to recycle. Poor people = retired people. I could cry when I see that. Cause also I see myself there some day, too. A per se good idea gone wrong (in Germany). Before those people went with bare hands into the bins... Progress made in Germany... Sorry - I didn´t want to start the week in a miserable way. But I think we should not hide that, either...
We don't have that here, that I know of...(USA) . If I'm wrong, someone correct me. There's just not any in my area. When is the world going to stop being crazy? Have a sweet day, Bill... hugs Donna
Seems like a great system. Here in Ontario a deposit is paid on wine and beer bottles and cans, which is refunded when they are returned. Other metal and glass containers are set out for recycling and are picked up by the municipality.

Reciclar é importante. Imagine só quantas bandejas de lasanha o Jon já enviou para a reciclagem. rsrsrsrs
