I saw these umbrellas last week when I was walking by the bin. The are useless in rain with strong winds. I always see some people struggling to keep their umbrella functioning right and then it happens, it gets blown inside out. Next stop is a bin.
An umbrella caught my eye the other day. A short man was carrying it!
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Umbrellas and the wind do not go well together.
ReplyDeleteYes that is a problem. suddenly the umbrella doesn't function anymore......
ReplyDeleteIn a string wind an umbrella is totally useless.
ReplyDeleteUmbrellas are experts at causing embarrassment in the midst of the greatest afflictions!
ReplyDeleteGood morning and good week, Bill.
~~~~~~~~
Looks a bit sad if you can't see that they are now worthless.
ReplyDeleteBut did you have to throw it away???
ReplyDeleteThe umbrellas weren't mine, they were already in the bin when I walked by.
DeleteI know, Bill. I didn't you YOU :-))
DeleteYes, umbrellas and wind do not get along.
ReplyDeleteTake care, enjoy your day! Have a happy new week!
...or you can pretend to be Mary Poppins.
ReplyDeleteOn those days it is better to stay at home or use a raincoat.
ReplyDeleteI've had an umbrella for many years.
ReplyDeleteI've never used it.
Why can't we fly using the umbrella for liftoff? Only in books, I guess.
ReplyDeleteUmbrellas are useless here most of the time. Sadly.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was working in St. Louis, I had an umbrella that kept turning inside out in the wind. One day, the umbrella top just lifted right off and blew away leaving me carrying the stick. I'll never forget that.
ReplyDeleteLOL- That has happened to me on more than one occasion. Poor old Umbrellas..gone to that NO GOOD place somewhere. lol. Diana
ReplyDeleteI once saw a lady with an umbrella to protect herself from the snow. That was unusual.
ReplyDeleteYep, strong winds make umbrellas useless!
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday, Bill!
They just don't make them like they used too. Of course, we go through so many drought days..when I need one...it's hard to find.
ReplyDeleteumbrella would not work here at home yesterday
ReplyDeletewe had a storm that passed last night
Why don't they make windproof umbrellas? It's been happening to everyone for years :)
ReplyDeleteI have given up on them and throw on a hat and hope for the best.
ReplyDeleteSame issue here, there and Everywhere. Unfortunatelly, Umbrellas dont be strong against the windy-rainy weather.
ReplyDeleteI've had that happen a few times - so annoying.
ReplyDeletePoor umbrellas, what a bad end. People are not grateful!
ReplyDeleteYikes, I guess I'll need to make sure to pack a rain jacket the next time I visit Ireland! :-)
ReplyDeleteSeguro que no eran antivientos. Yo tengo un antiviento, que por mucho que sopla el aire, no se mueve las varillas.
ReplyDeleteUmbrellas that get blown out can often be put back to rights by just popping them back. Did you check out these in the bin before giving up on them? A good rain poncho might be better in a strong wind.
ReplyDeleteYes, umbrellas are useless in the wind!!! I sure found that out!! :)
ReplyDeleteFate of weak umbrellas - sigh
ReplyDeleteYou really can't use an umbrella when it's a windstorm.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week.
Hug
Uy pobres paraguas. Te mando un beso
ReplyDeleteAt least if it is windy, you can step inside and get coffee.
ReplyDeletei can imagine how cold there...
ReplyDeletei prefer choose rain coat
have a nice day Bill
greetings
Yes. I know the problem!!!! I lost some, too. Never know if to laugh or cry ;-)
ReplyDeleteThat's why you need a Dutch weather Storm umbrella :-) They are a big hit in the Netherlands and the brand has also started to grow internationally. With the Senz umbrella you will stay dry even in storms with wind force 10!
ReplyDeleteI lobe your photos.
We had wind and rain here recently too, strong winds. You're right. Umbrellas are pointless in such conditions. Mary Poppins suddenly comes to mind. :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't use an umbrella. My daughter is obsessed with her one though!
ReplyDeleteinteresting...
ReplyDeleteand more interesting is sign of "freshly ground coffee inside"....
great shot
That's funny !! As an Oregonian my philosophy is just run through the rain forget the umbrella, you will eventually literally do so anyway.
ReplyDeletePor isso tanto detesto o vento! É o pior inimigo dos guarda-chuvas!
ReplyDeleteUma imagem curiosa! Gostei de ver! Um grande abraço!
