Very early start to Christmas. I know in the Philippines Christmas decorations go up on the 1st of September, and there's Christmas music in the shopping centres for 4 months basically!
Yep, the stores are trying to make up lost revenue probably. All retail has had a gut-punch from the pandemic. I hope they survive, though some already have shut their doors permanently.
