And what are they burning? Peat?
The choices they have are coal, peat and wood. Lots of people still burn coal because it is cheap. I am still amazed that people like the coal. It is dirty and not good for the environment.
...and our heating season started several months ago.

Yes chilly days are coming in.
What a beautiful peaceful photo.God bless.
I've had our heat on and off for the past few days.
Wool socks, hats, scarves, sweaters work too!
Yes Bill, inderdaad zo hier en daar zie je de schoorstenen weer roken.Groetjes Kees.
Hello, I like the smell of wood burning. Coal is dirty and definitely not healthy. Happy Thursday, enjoy your day!
What are they burning? Coal? Peat? Wood?
My guess is that they are burning coal, it's cheap and lots of people use it.
It is an environmental nightmare, however.
Love the feeling of this beautiful photo Bill! It is so inviting 🎄
Winter is on the horizon! Great scene!
Someone forgot to close that top window to keep the heat in Bill 😉
Hello Bill.A very beautiful picture of the house with the chimneys and the green hills! We are bearing only wood! There’s a fireplace in our living room! It’s so cold here today!Enjoy your afternoon!Dimi...
A nice cozy fire must be going.
One needs some heat this time of year.
That's a beautiful scene...makes me wish I could see inside these homes! Maybe sit by the fire! Enjoy your day!
We have had the furnace on for the last month or so. I can hardly wait until spring!
Yeah we have some cold days and the wood stove gets litMB
Great. I love the smell of burning birch wood. Great winter photo.
Can almost smell peat burning, whether it is or not.
Beautifully composed and shot!
Peat? What a beautiful spot! This is such a nice shot. I especially like the tree on the right.
A cozy scene.
Great landscape shot . Keep commenting on my blog because I love your comments.
That's an increasingly rare sight around here as more and more people rely on gas or electricity for heating. Coal or wood used to be the only choices when I was a boy.
Hi Bill. The autumn and winter also give cosiness in the house.Groettie from Patricia.
People should feel enough warm inside and this is a nice capture on the smoking house :)
We burn with pellets in our boiler
I can't imagine burning coal!
