It's been a month since I last posted.  Very thankful the move is completed and no one was injured but definitely tired.  We finished everything on the 30th and were very glad to give the keys back. 

I saw this mural in Dungloe's car park.  The words on the mural spell the Irish name for Dungloe.  The troll's name is Stor and you can read about him here.

A guy who was passing through the area when we were photographing this mural  shared the history depicted in the mural.  He said that in the past, before they built the stairs and stuff along the river, guys would go out with their nets four times a day to catch salmon. It would then be brought out at a hut at the edge of the river. The mural depicts such a scene.

I saw this mural when I was on the bus passing through Sligo.  The gantleman is Joe Carroll, a local resident of Sligo.  Unfortunately it was raining when we passed it.

Joe was a regular sight around Sligo town with his navy trench coat and famous cap.  He was often mistaken for a garda or traffic warden as he liked to direct the town's traffic on certain occasions.  His own mode of transport was a black bicycle which was a regular sight around Sligo in the eighties and nineties.  Info courtesy of independent.ie

greencastle mural

This Mural in Greencastle is an image of a Greencastle yawl or drontheim, a traditional fishing boat for many centuries on the north coasts of Ireland and the northern seaboard of Britain. It was commissioned by Greencastle Community Development, and was completed in August 1999.

mural by artist fritz

This mural can be seen in Sligo near the Gaavogue River.  The wall was commissioned by Sligo Tidy Towns.  Fritz wanted to create a mural that celebrated the Sligo connection that Bram Stoker has to the town and it’s possible influence on writing Dracula.

kaleidoscope of colour

located on Foyle Street.  The project for this mural was undertaken in 2011.  It was part of an innovative new urban arts project which quite literally allows local teenagers to add a splash of colour to their community. 
Internationally renowned Philadelphia-based graffiti artist Ernel Martinez recently hooked up with budding painters from the Moville Family Resource centre and the Playhouse in Derry before tackling a wall between Gillen’s supermarket and the Allied Irish Bank.  The new wall is a kaleidoscope of gaudy colours, arranged in the style of a stained glass window.

Saw this on the wall of a sport pitch in Buncrana and had to take two photos to fit it all.  It could relate to the team that plays their home games here, that's my guess.
