That poor tree didn't have much of a root system to hold it up in a strong wind. Now that it is down it might become home to a whole ecosystem of insects and animals.
It is pretty big, and must still have something feeding those green branches, for there doesn't seem to be much of a hole it came out of...or maybe we just don't see it, and perhaps it did happen just a short while ago so the branches haven't had a chance to die yet.
Spero che fosse ammalato.Buona giornata,ciao.
ReplyDeleteThat feels so sad
ReplyDeleteOh! Unusual, looks healthy at the crown... No?
ReplyDeleteIt"s sad to see... perhaps was the storm... Have a great weekend, dear friend. Take care with you.
ReplyDeleteReal shame about that tree wearing all green too. Those storms lately are killing a lot of them.
ReplyDeleteThe roots of trees are often surprisingly shallow and wind damage of this nature is not unusual.
ReplyDeleteSad to see but that is nature. I like the tree behind it :-D
ReplyDeleteWhat a pity!
ReplyDeleteAt least it wasn't in your back yard. We have some trees in our neighborhood that this easily happens to during a storm or just the wind. Great shot!
ReplyDeleteWe see many trees down like this in the forest next to our home.
ReplyDeleteTake care, have a great day and a happy weekend.
...big tree, little roots.

ReplyDeleteSuch is the way with storms.
ReplyDeleteIt's always sad to see a tree come down. This one looks like its roots were a bit shallow.
ReplyDeleteIt looks so forlorn, Bill. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pity! Why has the tree fallen? It's a beautiful tree.
ReplyDeleteThat's a massive root ball! Did it occur from strong winds?
ReplyDeleteWe've had quite a few trees brought down by strong winds over the past couple of months.
ReplyDeleteWould Have Love To Have Heard That Sucker Ripping From Mother Earth There Mr Bill
ReplyDeleteStay Brave ,
Cheers
That is always sad to see, Bill.
ReplyDeleteDeserves honor
ReplyDeletePuede estar afectado por alguna enfermedad y las raíces estén daádas.
ReplyDeleteFeliz fin de semana.
Kind of sad to see these stately old trees topple over. The stories they could tell!
ReplyDeleteMust have taken quite a wind to take that old tree down!!
ReplyDeleteUy que bueno. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteOh dear ...
ReplyDeleteWe have more wet and windy weather forecast too!
All the best Jan
Stormy weather indeed!
ReplyDeleteSuch a common sight after a wind storm! So sad to lose the trees!
