old army barracks ruins
the rusting gate to old British army barracks in Burtonport. It has been a ruin since the war of independence at Burtonport, Co Donegal.
Interesting image.
ReplyDeleteAt least it's pretty green there..
ReplyDeleteApart from the symbolism of the door the vegetation is great, the photo is very good.
ReplyDeleteBest regards.
I don't suppose there's too much love for the barracks of the British army. It's a wonder it hasn't been completely obliterated from the scene.
ReplyDeleteLooks like nature is reclaiming her own.
ReplyDeleteAnd the chimneys still stand.
ReplyDeleteHi Bill.
ReplyDeleteI love this.
Greetings from Patricia.
..they are a bit overgrown.
ReplyDeleteOver 100 years and still standing? It's time for a change?
ReplyDeleteAww...too bad it isn't kept clean and some restoration done...
ReplyDeletehugs

Something I wasn't expecting to see. Love the red gate. A picture of history.
ReplyDeleteNot too many visitors, Bill.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a highly neglected site. It would be fine if the world was a place not needing military bases.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like no one has been there for a very long time.
ReplyDeleteNature is having her say.
ReplyDeleteRaises my curiosity
ReplyDeleteHaunting image, Bill.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. Nature has reclaimed the land by the looks of it.
ReplyDeleteA nice gate years ago.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
A very eloquent gate!
ReplyDeleteUna imagen muy bonita, la naturaleza volvio a ocupar el lugar. Saludos
ReplyDeleteLugares abandonados são sempre assim.
ReplyDelete♥ Boa semana! :)
Agree with my cousin John. It's doubtful there's any interest in restoration. But the photo is great, Bill.
ReplyDeleteToo bad it is so over grown. Interesting picture.
ReplyDeleteNature does take over.
ReplyDeleteI love this photo of the old barracks. It's so fun to explore old forts, they always feel so mysterious!
ReplyDeleteGone to seed. Sad.
ReplyDeleteA pesar de lo descuidada cuenta mucho. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteOh dear! A lot of stories there to be told by someone.
ReplyDeleteHola Bill, una fotografía muy interesante.
ReplyDeleteFeliz semana.
Saludos
nature takes over.....
ReplyDeletegreat shot
Isn't it amazing how nature takes over!
ReplyDeleteI like the photograph.
All the best Jan
Ooooh, curiosity would get the better of me and I'd want to see more of what's through the gate!
ReplyDeleteNo entanto as ruínas sempre proporcionam momentos fotográficos fascinantes!
ReplyDeleteAdorei a imagem! Um grande abraço!
