The bird is actually a Hooded Crow, a species found only in the northern parts of these islands. It wasn't always like this though; their other name is the Royston Crow as they used to be familiar birds on Royston Heath, which is just a couple of miles from my home in Cambridgeshire.
Hello, Great sightings of the caterpillar and the Crow! That bird is not going to share his food. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care and enjoy your day, wishing you a happy weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
My brother was so allergic to caterpillars. A few times he let them crawl on him and a large red streak (looked like a big scar) raised almost immediately and itched terribly. Great pictures as always- Diana
I wonder if that's what we call a woolly bear caterpillar here. They're supposed to forecast a cold winter. (And the crow forecasts that some crow is going to have a special dinner.)
Looks like a magpie ... the bird ... not the caterpillar. He looks like a caterpillar.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.

ReplyDeleteNice caterpillar.
The bird with food is very beautiful.
Greetings from Patricia.
Hi, Bill. The link in the chain of life is photographed well here. You are observant to catch both objects.
ReplyDeleteRegards.
Two very nice photos!
ReplyDeleteThe caterpillar is probably the larva of some kind of tiger-moth, and the bird is a Hooded Crow.

Do your caterpillars predict the harshness of winter by how shaggy their coats get in August? Ours don't either but everyone thinks the do.
