traditionally a day when women have the day off and men did all the housework. It's considered bad luck to take down the Christmas decorations until after January 6th.
I love the idea of Women's Christmas! It’s such a refreshing tradition, giving women a well-deserved break while allowing the men to take charge of the household duties for a day. It’s a nice way to balance things out during the busy holiday season. Also, the superstition about waiting until after January 6th to take down the Christmas decorations adds an interesting touch of tradition and magic to the festive period. Do you celebrate this tradition?
It's interesting. As new year day is the most important day here, we take off Christmas decorations very soon. We celebrate Christmas though most Japanese isn't Christian, which is really strange.^^; Our God is living everywhere, in the air, trees, rains......I think it is like native American.
I don't have any Christmas decorations to take down. But I do ned to buy a new pair of glasses soon.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, decorations should stay until 6 January - the Epiphany.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I'll take my few down sometime this week
ReplyDeleteA nice introspective display
ReplyDeleteCute :-D
ReplyDeleteCute window display! Take care, enjoy your day and have a happy week!
ReplyDeleteBuona domenica Bill!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know of this custom. Very interesting. Cool display!
ReplyDelete...Women's Christmas is new for me. Our decorations are still up.
ReplyDeleteVery nice but if it sell glasses ?
ReplyDeleteTimes have changed traditions here. Many people have the tree up after Nov 11th and take it down on Dec 26th.
ReplyDeleteMy Dad kept the tree up till it went brown. But here they say you should not do laundry between Christmas and New Years.
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting set of traditions. It is good that women are honored.
ReplyDeleteThis looks lovely! So, you're on chore duty today? Mrs. Bill will be delighted!
ReplyDeleteDidn't know this custom either...
ReplyDeleteHow interesting. Have a happy day aloha!
ReplyDeleteThat's a tradition I like!
ReplyDeleteI will be turning off Christmas lights today and when it warms up I will take down the lights.
ReplyDeleteCute!
ReplyDeleteWe've waited until Epiphany to take ours down, too, Bill. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteI will take down the decorations this week.

ReplyDeletebut we start early instead on 1 Advent
My mom always believed in leaving up the Christmas decor way after the holidays. A tradition for her family.
ReplyDeleteI hope you've finished your housework by now. ;-)

I took our decorations down New Years Eve day and wanted to days before!!
