The Big Fish is a printed ceramic mosaic sculpture by John Kindness. The 10-metre-long statue was constructed in 1999 and installed on Donegall Quay in Belfast, Northern Ireland, near the Lagan Lookout and Custom House.
The building in the background is known as The Boat. It was designed by Todd Architects and is close to the Customs House building in the city centre and has been described as an oversized "blank gable wall". Here's a view of the penthouse if you're interested.
That is indeed a big fish Bill! I enjoyed every link here today, the Boathouse penthouse view is stunning, was wonderful to see 💜
ReplyDeleteBeautiful landscape and original structure well combined with the fountain.
ReplyDeleteVery good shots.
Regards Bill.
That's a big fish. I like the building too.
ReplyDeleteGod bless, Bill.
Nice one from the archives.
ReplyDeletewow what a sculpture.love the new headerwith the old stone bridge
ReplyDeleteGreat artwork that fish. The frames around the balconies are just a bit too much for me but the link to the interior was very nice. By the way, another beautiful header.
ReplyDelete... now the trout is looking for the front door ... breakfast is on :-)
ReplyDeleteA bit of a departure from what we usually see on your blog. I like both the sculpture and the building.
ReplyDeleteThat is an amazing sight. I have never seen anything like it before.
ReplyDeleteHi Bill.
ReplyDeleteThat fish is beautiful and fun.
Greetings from Patricia.
Quite a sculpture.
ReplyDelete...WOW, there's a lot to like here. The fish is wonderful, the Boat makes quite a statement and the penthouse is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is a cool fish sculpture. I like the cool building too.
ReplyDeleteTake care, have a happy day!
When you move into the penthouse, Bill, we will all come and visit.
ReplyDeleteLove the fish. The penthouse... hm. I prefer our little condo. Have a great day, your weather is a lot better than ours...
ReplyDeleteMajestic! Lovely shot of the two together!
ReplyDeleteLove that fish and boat! Creative!
ReplyDeleteWow, impressive!
ReplyDeleteGreat new header...and a good contrast to the subjects today...the natural setting vs. what man (generic) has created. I actually like both the fish and the architecture...except for the funny extruded paintings on it's surface. I used to work in a structure in Hartford CT shaped like a boat, and then my son worked there 40 years later...different businesses.
