"The elder Sir Hugh O'Donnell, wealthy chief of the O'Donnell clan, built the castle in 1474. At the same time, he and his wife Nuala, built a Franciscan monastery further down the river."
A magnificent ruin, dear Bill! Unfortunately we didn't go there when we visited Ireland - maybe next time? You wrote to me: "Never had goose, so I have no idea how it tastes." Have you ever had duck, for example at a Chinese restaurant? I think it's kind of in between duck and turkey. The skin is nice and crispy, the meat is absolutely delicious with the right seasoning. But I like the goose soup almost more than the roast (nicely creamy and spicy and with lots of vegetables). All the best and a happy new week, Traude 🥁🧸🍸🕯️☕🧸🍸☕🕯️🧸🥁 https://rostrose.blogspot.com/2023/11/govt-mule-kindergeburtstag-und.html

ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful, Bill. Can parts of it be entered?
ReplyDeleteYup, there are three floors and you can walk around and look at displays. One year they had young kids performing Irish dances to traditional music.
DeleteStill standing!
