John King Memorial

John King, a native of Ballinrobe, served in the U.S. Navy and was and one of only 19 men who received two Congressional Medals of Honor.

  5. Uhhhh... I´d run like hell away from exploding boilers!
    What a brave man.
    "Funny", is it. He had to run away due to an "incident", but now he is represented by a statue.
    It´s the same with Steinweg. They did not honour his work in my hometown, but when he got very successful in the US they named a park after him there.
    But, well, I interpret it this way: The hometowns this way admit they made a failure...
