an old notice

seen on the shore walk.  When walking down by the water, you pass this gate.  I always liked this old notice.  Don't know if this was serious when it was first put up or it was a joke.

  1. CS&WR is the Great Southern and Western Railway, who operated between Dublin and Cork and that general area, so the sign was probably originally on level crossing gates or something similar. I would guess that the householder has bought the sign at an antique auction.

  4. That depends on who put it up but looking at how new the wall is I think it's a joke

  8. I think John has solved the mystery of this sign! It's a great find, Bill! The new stone pillars and gates are very well constructed and the sign adds a touch of humour!

  9. It's an interesting sign, probably indicating in a (funny friendly) way that they would like to keep the gate closed.

  11. I love it! This sign could be adapted for many things...like leaving the lights on in empty rooms, or leaving the toilet paper roll empty. LOL I could have these all over my house...I'd be rich if my family ever paid out!

  13. Love it! A monetary penalty would certainly be a good motivator to help people remember to shut the gate!! Great capture.

  16. It would have been an investment to make that sign. I suspect it wasn't a joke.
