cyclist

went flying by me one morning last week. The building on the left is the Market Hall which was newly painted last year.

the paper stop2

I guess checking your phone is high priority no matter where you are.

getting the roof done before the bad weather returns.

the paper stop

is in the process of being renovated.  It began in Sept and currently they are working up where the roof used to be.  From one of the locals, this building has been vacant for the last 10 years.  The roof had holes in it and the floors were filled with tons of rubbish which they spent weeks removing and filling the skips.  I have no idea what this building will become but it is going to take a lot more time to finish the project.

snowing

a snowy morning in Glenties.  It snowed off and on all morning but by the end of the day, we had nothing.  The gridders were out doing their job preventing ice from gathering on the roads.

quiet rainy day

Nothing exciting here when I went outside.  I saw one person walking way down the street, no one else around.  Rainy day, pouring down at times so I went back in and had a cuppa tea.

milk delivery

some people still prefer delivery even though the store is almost across the street.

bridge painting

on main street.  They do this every year before the tourists flock to town.  That house could also use a makeover too.

old courthouse

will be known as the Brian Friel Centre and will serve as a visitor centre in Glenties.  The courthouse was built by the Grand Jury in 1843 and is located near the main street and garda station. The ownership was later transferred to Donegal County Council.  They will now lease it to the Brian Friel Trust.

Brian Friel was the best-known Irish playwright of his generation and an accomplished short-story writer who had a strong affection for Donegal.

monday mural

came across this old building on a walk.  It is no longer used for a recycling centre.  It doesn't look great but the mosaic must have looked pretty good when it was first used.
