tragic event in Creeslough

this past Friday at 3pm there was an explosion in this location which claimed 10 lives.  A very tragic event for this small community.  I took this photo May 2019 when we were visiting the area.  It is a beautiful town and we thought we might move there sometime.  The store (in the backgound) is a busy place where people buy their groceries, stop and use the post office which is also in the building or have a converation with people they know.  There was also apartments above and beside the store.  It was a hub of the community.  I hope the people can recover from this devastating event.  The whole country is shocked and in mourning.
The authorities currently don't know the cause of the explosion and won't until their investigation is completed.  You can read it about HERE if you wish.

Doe Castle

is located on Sheephaven Bay, Co. Donegal.  The castle is believed to have been built in the 1420s.  There was no access to the castle but anyone can enjoy the grounds.  The castle has guided tours but only in July and August.  Click on Doe Castle to read more.

Rose's

Rose's Bar & Kitchen , 102 years at this location in Creeslough.
We visited Rose's Kitchen and it was a lovely little place and the salmon we had was excellent.  Didn't go in to the bar because we didn't want a drink.

the plaque can be seen on the facade of the building by the door.

the stone walls around the Creeslough area are mainly dry stone walls and look incredible.   That is Muckish Mountain in the bsckground.  We were walking to Doe Castle which is a few miles from here.

this house

is in the way.  That was my first thought when I was walking toward the house to see the view and take the photo but afterwards I decided I liked it. :)  The water in the foreground is Lough More and the body of water in the background is Sheephaven Bay.
