flooded
the trail on the river walk flooded from the rain the last two days making it inaccessible. Two people were headed back out when I came in and told me that I wouldn't get through to the other side. So, I had to continue a little ways before I came up to it and took the photo. I'm hoping it will be gone when I go back.

Duntally Wood Nature Reserve
While we were in Creeslough, we had a chance to visit Duntally and walk the trail. What a beautiful place this is with lots of green. As we walked the trail, we came across one guy with his dog and didn't see anyone else. We walked to the end of the trail and turned around and headed back to where we started. It was so quiet all we could hear were the birds singing and our footsteps. A lovely way to spend part of the morning.
Duntally Wood Nature Reserve is a 2.5km loop trail takes you from the car-park along old cart-ways and down into the valley bottom. Potatoes and cereals were once grown in these meadows. Some have been cleared of tree cover to increase diversity within the woodland.
Extending to over 15 hectares it is a fantastic example of an oak, ash, hazel woodland. Other notable tree species include Holly, Elm and Downy Birch. Ground flora is varied throughout the woodland and changes with soil and habitat type, common species include wood anemone, early purple orchid, hard fern, wild garlic, meadowsweet, bugle, and bluebell.

Bredagh River
The Bredagh River runs through Moville and parts of its trail were flooded. In the photo below, the water rose high and fast enough to cover some of the stairs thus blocking the access to the other side. No one was worrying about flooding here because we are on higher ground. It was reported that parts of the north and west flooded after 101mm (4 inches) of rain fell in just 9 hours. Our friend left a message on social media saying they lost everything but at least they had insurance. Still it will take time to recover from such an event.

the donagh river
The Donagh River is in Carndonagh and it seems to be running low. We accessed the river via Church Road, one of the major roads in town. The trail unfortunately needs some repair and maintenance to make it accessible for all people, Hopefully the next time we are there it will be in better shape and we'll be able to walk further. There is also some graffiti under the bridge area. Sad!
