I am always amazed at how life adjusts to its surroundings. From iny shrubs in a shallow crag of rock to a tree settled deep, unmoved by passing water, life holds on.
We're in the midst of high winds here in the mountains of NC...and I marvel how 100 foot tall trees move so much but have steady roots going so far into the earth that I don't worry they'd fall.
