solar street bins

Killybegs just got two new solar street bins placed in town last week, these are compacting bins.  The first one is in front of the bank on Main St.  We first saw these when were in Ballina.  I guess you could call them smart bins. :)

the second one is down in the center of town at the Diamond

  3. Tendríamo que tomar ejemplo en España. Con las horas de sol que hay en nuestro país es para que se hubiera empleado más la energía solar. En la zona de Andalucía, que es donde vivo yo, es sonde hay más temperatura solar.

    1. It uses the solar energy to compact the trash and to alert the company when the bin is full.

  10. Did you go look at one? Since you took its photo, I imagine you did. What's that tube on the side for? And only one of these has one of the side-tubes...just my Sunday morning engineering curiosity.

    1. The tube is for cigarettes butts. The second one has the tube too but it's hard to see.
