on the side of the road. I have no idea what the purple ones are called.
The "purple ones" are foxgloves, also known in olden times as fairy thimbles, scientific name "digitalis". The drug Digoxin, used for treating some heart conditions, is obtained from them. Despite their beauty they are poisonous.

ReplyDeleteHi Bill.
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful.
I also do not know what they are called.
Groettie from Patricia.
Very beautiful, both the flower and the color.
ReplyDeleteI think its digitalis called here in the Netherlands. Very toxic Bill.
ReplyDelete...John and SC are correct about the first one, it is Digitalis or Foxglove. The second on is Alcea or Hollyhock.
ReplyDeleteI also love the colour of the foxglove, which is growing here too but the hollyhock is not so common in the wild around us. Lovely photos, Bill!
ReplyDeleteNo need to know the name, they are just beautiful flowers!
ReplyDeleteYes they are lovely. We enjoy seeing them here too.
ReplyDeleteDe uma grande beleza estas flores silvestres.
