Bank of Ireland

closed on Oct 8th in Dungloe along with 88 other branches around the country.  Now if you need access to the bank services, the bank has a contract with An Post to cover those services.  They even took the ATM machine out which people were not happy about.  There are a few machines in stores that people can access.  Just more aggravation for people.  I wonder what will now become of this empty building.

bank of ireland

is going to close down 88 branches around the country and one of them is this one in Dungloe.  Most people do online banking these days.  Another bank, AIB, have mobile banks that visit the towns.  For people who wish to use the bank services, An Post (the postal service) will have a contract with the bank so their services will still be available.

bank of ireland

built in 1905 as two fine townhouse residences:  Dungloe's first semi detached houses.  A newspaper advert from 1909:  "Spacious semi detached villa to be let or sold, containing two reception rooms and six bedrooms, situated in midst of good shooting and fishing district".  In October 1920, the National Bank Ltd. (from 1969, Bank of Ireland) opened a branch here.
