  1. Lot of celtic ornaments in this cover. Nice that it is possible to make something humble so nice.

  2. I was rather intrigued by the unusual design too. A bit of Googling revealed that it's a standard product, known as "Celtic", from the Cavanagh foundry in Co Offaly, who specialise in what they call "road furniture". It's now part of the EJ company from the US.

  3. This is beautiful to see on a drain cover, it is art on the street!

  4. How elaborate for a drain cover but very unique and so much better than the mundane!
    Good eye, Bill!

  8. Looks a bit like something we have, copy from norrøn time . Norse Mythology ?
I hope you will find the answer to it.
    A very nice find.
    Thanks for sharing.

  9. Very fancy. Our drain covers have numbers scrawled on them ... they are certainly nothing like this. This could be in a drain cover museum!

  12. Fancy! I like it. There is a town in Ontario called Letterkenny and also a hilarious tv show called Letterkenny. Hilarious to Canadians at least. I am positive it is nothing like your Letterkenny.

  13. We have a whole line of Cavanagh in the family tree so it is fun to see this!

  14. That's so beautiful. I wonder if the design is similar to something from the Book of Kells.

  16. I took a picture of one just like it towards the eastern end of Ballincollig, Co. Cork, today, and was going to try and find some information on it too. Aren't they just lovely though!
