sharing the road

Seen in Buncrana last week.  There have been an increase in fatalities in the last few years and hopefully this sign will be a reminder for both drivers and cyclists.

  1. I hope that all the roads are capable of this distance. I wonder.

  2. Not the kind of consideration I'm used to when out on my bike.

  3. ...sharing isn't easy for some folks.

  4. Here the cyclists are 2,3 and sometimes 4 next to each other.
And that can be a bit complicated.

  5. If only it were bigger and some drivers would take heed - personally I have found drivers seem to loath giving space to cyclists! And always wear a helmet!

  6. Yes, this is a great sign. So many drivers don't like sharing the road, even with cyclists and pedestrians.

  7. The same message is going out here. Hope there are no more tragedies.

  8. Sharing the road is always a good idea, but not always honored.

  10. Let's hope so Bill, these tragedies won't stop until cyclists and motorists start showing each other more respect!

  15. I quit riding my road bike for this exact reason. I didn't want to become one of the fatalities. Most of the roads still aren't compatible with "sharing."

  16. 'n prima idee Bill, we zouden er ;n voorbeeld aan moeten nemen.
    Groet Kees.
