I wonder how much sectarianism has been fostered in that church. The mere name “Church of Ireland” seems sinister, as does “Church of England.” It’s odd that nations claim the Church as theirs. I couldn’t even imagine strolling through town and seeing the “Church of Canada.” Who knows, maybe there’s a Church of Zimbabwe, a Church of Kazakstan, a Church of Bolivia? We’d be better off without all of them.
Good point, David. The US is heading in the direction of labeling itself a "Christian" nation. Scary, especially considering religious freedom was one of our most important founding tenets.
Your first sign is one I never hope to encounter. Landslides are terrifying. That is a very solid looking church. How is the Church of Ireland these days?
Two emotions that are conflicting come to me, sad and wary then skeptical of what the church stands for combined with the pleasure of enjoying Christmas music which was dedicated by the church's patronage.
Landslide. Sounds bad.
ReplyDeletePraying you are all well in these storms. God bless.
ReplyDeleteGreat signs! The church is pretty. Take care, have a great day!
ReplyDeleteThe church looks magnificent!

DeleteHerewith there are already three of us.
DeleteBel post Bill,buon pomeriggio.
ReplyDeleteGood you get that warning! Sliding is only good as a child and in snow...
ReplyDeleteWonderful Church shot. And I hope all is well after the landslide.
ReplyDeleteLandslide? Oh dear. The recent storm I suppose.
ReplyDeleteLandslide…lots of rain?
ReplyDeleteGood signs. We have seen a lot of the first ones over here too.
ReplyDeleteWas -5C over night and still minus just now. So cold!
Landslides are so dangerous, that's for sure. Take care, Bill!
ReplyDeleteThe first one is very clear Bill.
ReplyDeleteYikes. I'm guessing the storm softened things up for the possible landslide. I hope you and your home were safe.
ReplyDeleteGoodness, a landslide is a bit scary. That church looks so tall and narrow.

ReplyDeleteA landslide sign is not one you want to see. Great looking church, Bill.
ReplyDeleteDebe ser restaurada inmediatamente, para no perder esa histórica arquitectura.
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo.
Nice signs Bill

ReplyDeleteWell, I'll believe there's a landslide?
ReplyDeleteA beautiful large church
ReplyDeleteI would like to visit that church.
ReplyDelete...this sounds like a good reason to close the walkway!
ReplyDeleteThe landslide sign is a bit scary
ReplyDeleteMe gusta la segunda foto. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteGood signs here Bill ... but obviously a landslide is not!
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Important signs!!
ReplyDeleteQuerido Bill, preciosas fotografías, es un placer visitarte, me encantó tu post.
ReplyDeleteAbrazos y te dejo un besito, que tengas un feliz día
Hope the mess of the landslide is cleared soonest!
ReplyDeleteThe church seems to be reaching out to the heavens!
Both good signs but the first one is 'danger'.
ReplyDeleteHow regrettable! Better days will come soon...
ReplyDeleteThe church is very beautiful
A hug, dear friend. 🌤
