Love the old dry-stone wall, several pieces of it surviving are great, and being continued/supported with the newer version with lots of mortar just points out how beautiful the old was.
Dear Bill, you have discovered a great photo motif that raises questions and material for discussion. I also liked the original wall better. But I hope the stones will hold now. Whoever is responsible for the wall, I would recommend going over it again with gray mortar or something similar to artificially age the new part. Good it got repaired. :-D
ReplyDeleteThe original section looks much more appealing.
ReplyDeleteIt makes an interesting contrast, but I guess the repair person wasn't trained in the dry stone technique.
ReplyDeleteThe original stone work does look better.
ReplyDeleteTake care, enjoy your day!
Oh, it becomes a patchwork over time. Very interesting photo.
ReplyDeleteIt actually looks really nice with different colours.
ReplyDeleteTime will smooth it over.
ReplyDeleteSomeone did a great job!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see the old fencing fixed!

ReplyDeleteI love the stone walls I see in your world, England and Europe. They are few and far between here.
ReplyDeleteThat stone wall shows the obvious Irish talent for building stone walls, and rebuilding them when needed. Stone is often available in great supply,

ReplyDeleteSuch a quilt-like patchwork, Bill. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteIt was beautifully hand built

ReplyDelete...let's hope that it blends in with time.
ReplyDeleteIt could be better... Repairman has no artistic training... Good pic, dear Bill... A nice evening. A hug.🌈
ReplyDeleteThose stone walls are very special even for photographing.
ReplyDeleteBest regards

ReplyDeleteIt is good that the old dry stone section was kept. Nice one, Bill.
ReplyDeleteLove stone walls. We have LOTS of them around on our property.
ReplyDeleteI would like to know which parts of this wall need to be repaired next.
ReplyDeleteWho knows, just happened to walk pass it.
DeleteThe stone barriers are lovely
