St. Stephen's Day
What Do People Do?
Many people generally spend the day quietly with family members or close friends. Some Christians attend special church services to remember St Stephen's life. Other people may visit a theater to see a pantomime. Pantomimes are musical-comedy productions based on fairy tales and aimed at families. They incorporate audience participation, cross-dressing, double entendre and references to recent local events.
In some parts of Ireland, children go from door to door with a wren (a small bird) in a cage or a model wren on a stick. They may also sing, play music or perform traditional dances. In some areas, boys may dress as girls or women. Many hope to collect money for community or school projects or charity.

our wild windy wet weekend just begun this afternoon with the sun disappearing and the rain bucketing down. There won't be a white Christmas here in Moville but we will have plenty of puddles.

Inishowen CO-OP Shop
everything for your farm, home or garden can be purchased here. Passed this place on my walk back home a few weeks ago. Reminded me of Home Depot in the US but much smaller.

wires
I just finished reading a book, Then There Was Light. It's a collection of reminiscences about the rural electrification scheme in Ireland. The stories were interesting and some concerns of the people at the time this was going on, in the 1940s were rather comical. It was a good read!

December 2016 CDP Theme Day - Transitions
The Anchor Arts Gallery opened on June 29th, 2012, previously it was known as the Hair O' the Dog pub. The arts centre showcased the creativity and skills of the local artisan community. Unfortunately, it closed down after the owner died. It was then sold and bought and the word is that it will be converted into a Bed & Breakfast (that is what I was told by someone in the community).. It's located right down next to Moville Pier and the Moville Coastal Walk begins only a few meters from here. It's a great location for whatever it becomes.
